5 NHS Walk-In Centres across the region and 3 urgent care centres.

9 new hospitals open to patients funded either by public capital or PFI, 1 further building under construction and the £300m transformation of Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals due for completion in 2013.

In 2007-08, the North East will receive on average £3,799.74 per pupil under the Dedicated Schools Grant

500 more teachers, 4583 more teaching assistants and 4217 more support staff.

There are 148 Sure Start Children's Centres across the North East reaching over 95,000 children under 5 and their families. A further 33 Children's Centres are due to open by April 2008.

149 Specialist schools across the Region.

4 New Academy Schools have been built with a further 14 being built or planned.

The North East has received ober £1.5nm of capital funding for schools across the region.

Nine local councils are presently involved in the Building Schools for the Future programme to rebuild or refurbish every secondary school in the country.

Neighbourhood Policing rolled out to Northumbria and Durham Police Force areas with Cleveland following by by April 2008.

Police budgets have been increased since 1997; Cleveland up by 58.5%, Durham up by 52.8% and Northumbria up by 34.4%.
